I began my career journey at college where I studied HND Fitness Health and Exercise and became a qualified Personal Trainer. I immediately started working with clients outdoors at local parks and at my own home (to the delight of my mum) where I got great hands on experience of working with different individuals.
At this time I also worked at Edinburgh Leisure as a Gym Instructor at Portobello Swim Centre where I ran classes, worked with individual members and worked with people with disabilities.
Since the age of 5 I had been playing football and always had an interest in the importance of fitness for success in the sport (despite my lack of success in the sport..). For this reason I went on to study Sport and Exercise Science at Edinburgh Napier University where I gained an education on what it takes to perform at the elite level and how I could apply this to the people I work with.
I followed this by completing an MSc in Sport Performance Enhancement, which progressed my ability to understand the latest research surrounding health, fitness and performance. This has allowed me to provide evidence-based clarity to my clients despite the growing amount of misinformation and confusion that surrounds health and fitness.
For the 2018-2019 season I completed a year long Strength and Conditioning internship at Hibernian Football Club where I gained hands on experience of working within the youth academy (U11s-U18s), the development squad and with the first team in the gym and on the training pitch. Before this I volunteered as a Fitness Coach at lower league football teams for 2 years.
From the years of 2016 to 2019 the bulk of my time was focussed on building my business (Henderson Health and Fitness) until the lads at Health by Science scouted me and made the multi-million quid scoop to sign me – and here I am!
