At Health by Science we start with why. We never forget why we started personal training clients and treating patients, to help people master their own health and performance, for good.
We believe in empowering people to master and take control of their health and wellbeing for good, through helping them achieve a clear sense of purpose, autonomy and mastery.
We believe that to achieve great health and performance, we must focus on exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress and your mindset.
We believe in using a science-based approach to determine the tools and techniques we use with our clients.

We believe in constantly critically appraising our approaches alongside clinical specialists to ensure that we are providing a truly robust evidence-based approach.
We believe that behaviour change is critical to long-term sustainable good health.
Many of our clients already have an idea about what you should be doing, you just might not be sure how you should go about it and that’s where we come in.
Whether you are trying to lose weight, put on muscle or improve performance we are fully dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
It is our responsibility to get the best from you and nobody knows you better than you so by working together we can empower you with the knowledge and confidence you need.
One of the main reasons behind our success is that we focus on your exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress and mindset.
Covering these 5 pathways really allows us to tap into and affect the other 166 hours your not training with us to give our clients the changes the want.
90% of the success we have with our clients is self-directed. This is because we empower our clients with the tools they need to take control of their health for sustainable change.
We help you develop a clear purpose. This may seem obvious but by focusing on your why, we can utilise that burning desire you have to feel and look great for good.
We help you build a clear sense of autonomy. You know you better than anyone which is why you’re in the driving seat calling the shots and we are here to facilitate and guide you through the process of mastering your health.
We help you achieve health and performance mastery. This is the overriding your goal. You will get the results you desire but the key is maintaining these results and that comes from becoming a master of your own health and performance.
We help you get there by providing you with the tools and skills specific to your needs to get there.
If you like how we do things then get in touch today.
With each personal training session we put aside 60 minutes for exercise and 15 minutes to focus on any lifestyle changes you wish to make such as nutrition.
We use outcome-based decision making. This means that we decide what to do next based on the results of the evidence we have gathered and the outcome of the previous decisions.
We work with NHS registered Dieticians in order to provide an evidence-based approach to nutrition advice and education if and when required to achieve your goals or improve your condition.
During exercise sessions we provide you with a heart rate monitor which enables us to track your performance each session and calculate your fitness levels to provide you with a specific training regime if your training for a challenge.
Unfortunately the negative effects of being sat down all day cannot be offset by simply being active.
Therefore we provide some clients with our Fitbit activity trackers as a useful data collection tool.
Using this information allows our clients and patients to reflect on their physical activity habits and test behaviour change strategies with the guidance of our coaches.
We use movement screenings and assessments to ensure that you move well before you move often to minimise your risk of injury whilst maximising your performance.
We use a habit based approach to help you improve your nutrition. Why habits? Because it works, it keeps us focused on the process, it gives you a sense of accomplishment and helps you to get in “the zone”.
We use activity trackers and sleep diaries to help you reflect on your sleep hygiene. This is a commonly overlooked area which is undervalued in our culture. Becoming a restorative sleeper can make a huge difference to achieving your goals.
Stress is good for you, but too much and it can have negative effects. Interestingly how you view stress and your relationship with it can have more of an effect than the stress itself. Using various reflection tools we can help you get on better with your stress levels.
Your brain is like a muscle and you are capable of achieving much more than you could ever imagine. By helping you develop a growth mindset we can help make the journey a whole lot easier and more enjoyable.
We regularly liaise with clinical specialists in all relevant fields including Dietetics, Psychology, Strength and Conditioning, Physiotherapy, Clinical Consultants and General Practitioners, This enables us to offer the best practices the industry has to offer in all aspects of health and wellbeing.
To stay on top of the current literature and ensure we offer the best in “what works”, each week our journal club meets up to critique the latest peer-reviewed papers in all aspects of health and wellbeing.
We do the science so that you don’t have to.
