I have always been generally fit through football however I never felt I was pushing myself to my limits. I love taking on a challenge and had done a couple of half marathons, but I wanted to push myself further. After scoping the internet I had come to the conclusion I wanted to be an Iron Man and take on the gruelling 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike followed by 26.2 mile marathon.
I was excited but apprehensive as after reading a few blogs on the internet, the training looked intense. I could only do 4 lengths front crawl without stopping so this was a real wakeup call as to what I was taking on. I got in touch with Health by Science as a friend recommended them and we sat down and worked backwards and pin pointed a realistic action plan of what was achievable.
I was impressed by their professionalism and their meticulous approach to training. I worked with Health by Science for 8 months and was over the moon to complete the Wales Ironman in 12 hours 48 minutes which far exceeded what I thought I was capable of.
